Integrative Therapy Institute, Inc. (ITI) – was founded in 2006, but is still considered a start-up nonprofit organization working on 501c3 status.  ITI’s mission is to provide holistic health and education therapies in one place. We are committed to work together in creative ways to provide wellness opportunities that focus on the wisdom inherent in healing the “whole person” – mind, body and spirit. The Institute exists to provide these educational and therapeutic services for the local community at no or low cost and to provide affordable space for the practitioners of these services.

 

Weekly internship schedules are very flexible and most tasks can be completed off site.  Minimum Requirements for all INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:  Need to be mature, reliable individual who is able to work on projects with and without supervision; computer proficient (internet research and word processing), excellent oral and written communication skills, organized, and self-motivated.

 

INTERNSHIPS OPPORTUNITIES (UNPAID) Summer 2009 and FALL 2009

  • OFFICE ASSISTANT Pull patient files and file, Copy patient records Answer phones and schedule appointments. Prepare patient packets and informational packets for distribution Mon-Fri between 9-4 pm, 10-20 hrs wk.
  • GRANT WRITER looking for intern to help write research and write grants and to help create and assist in special fund raising events.
  • MARKETING/PR INTERN:  ITI, Inc. has a marketing/pr internship opportunity available for students interested in gaining experience in the area of nonprofit public relations.   The internship will include contacting local and regional media, submitting press releases and assisting with market research projects.   Schedule is flexible. 
  • CHILDREN’S ART CLASS ASSISTANT:

o       DUTIES: Assist class instructors with class projects, set up, and clean up. Interact with children in the class setting.   Supervise children during class breaks, as needed. Help set up public exhibit to be held in August 2009.

o       LENGTH OF COMMITMENT and SCHEDULE: June 22-July25th M-F 1-6 p.m. Public Art Exhibit to be held 8/8/09.

o       SKILLS: Experience with children, enjoys working with children.  Experience with art a plus.  Creative, tolerant reliable, punctual, honest. 

o       KNOWLEDGE:  Good sense of accommodating kids and their individual needs.  TRAINING PROVIDED:  Training will be provided to the volunteer from the class instructor, based on the needs of the class.  Volunteer will need to be fingerprinted by Live Scan in order to interact with children in a classroom setting.  ITI will help arrange fingerprinting. 

o       BENEFITS:  Volunteer will gain experience teaching art to children in a creative, friendly environment.

  • RESEARCH ASSISTANT: Position is ongoing by Term (Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring) Children at Risk, for Autism (C.A.R.A.) autism research program and participant curriculum development and education 2009-2014:  This research is responsible for designing/streamlining and implementing the C.A.R.A. screening and preventive services.  This research focuses on reducing and the debilitating outcomes of Autism and related disorders (preventive intervention) and improving the health and wellbeing of those living with Autism.  Study findings are not only shared with the global research community, but are also used at ITI to improve intervention techniques employed by mental health professionals and parents.

 

o       JOB DESCRIPTION: The primary role of each research intern is to assist in the day-to-day implementation and operation of C.A.R.A. research study and participant education conducted by Jean O’Neil-Metivier, M.A., Ph.D. Candidate, Fielding Graduate University. Department of Clinical Psychology. Psychotherapist, Educational Consultant, Founder and Current director of ITI.

o       KNOWLEDGE: Intern is responsible for recruitment of research participants (e.g. eligibility screening, enrollment, scheduling) and

o       TRAINING PROVIDED: Administration of participant appointments (informed consent, collection of survey and biologic data, participant compensation and support information).

o       SKILLS: All research involves a good deal of administrative work (e.g. data entry, data cleaning, and generation of reports) and thus the research intern should expect to handle a considerable amount of paperwork.

o       BENEFITS: As a member of an interdisciplinary research team, the intern participates in monthly meetings with collaborators: SLP, OT/PT, Human Services, Behavioral Health, Preventive Health and Educational Services, Intern(s) will gain experience in research and providing educational and therapeutic services for program participants.
