Understanding Autism: Fundamentals for Professionals and Families

This workshop introduces the fundamentals of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, reviews diagnostic terms and categories, examines myths, and outlines assessment, advocacy, and forensic topics. This 2 hour presentation allows parents, teachers, siblings, employers or partners, and those providing care and education to the individuals with autism to build understanding and gain essential resources for further study, regardless of previous experience.

Claudia Inés Pringles is an attorney with a practice dedicated to special
needs planning. Claudia is also an active volunteer and has a passion for
advocating for individuals with disabilities and their families. She is
currently serving as Co-Chair of the state Autism Plan Advisory Committee and she is the Membership Chair of the Vermont Autism Task Force. She is also a Developmental Disabilities Specialist at the Vermont Family Network, where she helps families navigate Developmental Services. Claudia is a parent of a daughter on the autism spectrum.
